Microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) microneedling are both minimally invasive cosmetic procedures that involve the use of tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, and stimulating the body’s natural wound responses. However, the key difference lies in the additional element of radiofrequency energy in RF microneedling.

1. Microneedling:
   • Procedure: Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves the use of a device with fine needles that create small, controlled punctures in the skin’s surface. At Allure Infinite Beauty, med spa Mesa, we use one of the only FDA cleared microneedling devices, SkinPen. This highly advanced device precisely delivers microneedles into the skin at an exact depth to help smooth fine lines, scar tissue, hyperpigmentation or to produce more collagen induction.
   • Mechanism of Action: The micro-injuries trigger the body’s natural healing response, leading to the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for skin elasticity and firmness. We typically will recommend 3-6 treatments, one month apart, for best results. Over time you will see a noticeable difference in the health and smoothness of your skin.
   • Indications: At Allure Infinite Beauty we recommend SkinPen microneedling commonly to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars (acne scars, for example), and overall skin texture. In some cases we will recommend SkinPen microneedling also to help brighten the skin and smooth any discoloration caused by the Arizona sun or acne scars. 1. • Procedure: RF microneedling combines the traditional microneedling technique with the added benefit of radiofrequency energy. The highly advanced device used in RF microneedling has needles that deliver RF energy into the deeper layers of the skin. Our highly sophistacted Virtue RF Microneedling machine can be extremely customizable and comfortable. Like all microneedling treatments we take adequate time to thoroughly numb each patient for maximum comfort.
   • Mechanism of Action: In addition to the micro-injuries created by the needles, the RF energy heats the underlying layers of the skin. This heat stimulates collagen and elastin production and tightens the skin. RF energy is amazing in helping to “Shrink Wrap” the skin and giving a tighter and smoother appearance. 
   • Indications: RF microneedling is often preferred for treating more advanced signs of aging, sagging skin, and areas that require more skin tightening. At Allure Infinite Beauty we will typically recommend 3 treatments, one month apart, to start aggressively tightening the skin. However, this treatment can be done more often to help reverse the signs of aging and help maintain healthy beautiful skin. We often combine this treatment with a Co2 Laser Resurfacing or IPL photofacial to target more aggressive signs of aging such as hyperpigmentation, deep lines and acne scars all over age reversal!

• Indications: RF microneedling is often recommended for individuals seeking more significant skin tightening and addressing moderate to severe signs of aging. Whereas SkinPen Microneedling is typically recommended for a younger age demographic (teens-late 20’s), to help smooth uneven skin texture typically caused by acne.
